B.S., 1962, Clarkson University, National Defense Education ActFellow, 1962-65 Ph.D., 1966, Clarkson University Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. E. L. Eliel, Univ. of Notre Dame,1965-66 Research Interests Dr. Gibson's general research interests range from synthetic to physical (e.g., kinetic, mechanistic studies of organic and polymeric materials, typically with a view toward developing molecular design criteria for tailored physical and/or chemical characteristics). The present research activitiesin the Gibson group can be divided into four major areas: Novel DendriticSystems Formed from Macrocyclic and Cryptand Units, Controlled/ "Living" Free Radical Polymerizations at Surfaces, Polyrotaxane Systems and Networks, and Supramolecular Structural Self Assembly.
