Scholarships and Fellowships

This page is under development. New scholarship and other information will be posted here in early December 2009.

Scholarships

The Chemistry Department grants approximately $20,000 annually for undergraduate scholarships. There is no application form. Scholarships are granted during the fall semester based on merit. Criteria include grade point average (usually >3.6), rigor of schedule, and scholarly pursuits. There are also a few need-based scholarships. To be eligible, students must have 'need' as determined by an analysis of their Financial Aid Form, and have >3.0 grade point average.

Summer Fellowships

The Chemistry Department allots approximately $10,000 annually to undergraduate fellowships. Fellowships are typically $1000-$3600 and intended to support research or scholarly activities by chemistry majors during the summer. Inquiries about other uses of fellowships should be directed to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Brian Hanson, at 540-231-7206 or by email.
